About Reading Makes Cents

Inspiring a generation of readers and savers

Reading Makes Cents is a free statewide reading program that uses children’s books to teach smart money habits. Each selected title explores themes like choices, value and saving for the future. One of the most important lessons? Saving for long-term goals like their education.

To reinforce this idea, Invest529 awards savings accounts to 14 student participants each year. The sooner students start saving for higher education, the more accessible and achievable it becomes.
